BACKGROUND: At some time in the 32nd century, a pair of psychic siblings were born. After they awakened to their powers, the brother decided he was god and wanted to destroy the Earth over and over again to work backwards through time until he saw the beginning of the universe. The sister wanted to stop him, so she made him agree on a game over the fate of the Earth. No matter how many times she altered the rules, though, she always lost. And so they worked their way backwards through time as the Earth kept getting destroyed again and again and again.
Back in the early 21st century, Mikazuki Shinonome was jealous of his older brother Hangetsu who was a famous martial artist that worked for various shady organizations and kept the peace in Japan's criminal underworld. He spent most of his youth getting into fights and trying to catch up with Hangetsu, but was never able to do it. Hangetsu was a once in a generation prodigy.
When he was 19, Mikazuki took a backpacking trip across Southeast Asia. While he was somewhere in India, however, a strange thing happened. A crow appeared that only he could see. It spoke to him, introducing itself as Muu, the Crow Knight. According to Muu, Mikazuki had been chosen as one of twelve beast knights to battle an evil mage and his army of golems on behalf of someone called the Princess, and to stop the mage from destroying the world with a giant invisible hammer in the sky known as the Biscuit Hammer. In exchange for risking his life, Mikazuki would be granted psychic powers and a wish of his choosing. Mikazuki used his wish to get a load of bread for a little girl he had met in India, because such things were not of a huge interest to him, then returned to Japan.
He had a few surprises waiting for him. First, he found out that his brother had been another beast knight, the Dog Knight. Second, his brother had been killed by one of the mage's golems while saving the life of the Lizard Knight, Yuuhi Amamiya (who is ACTUALLY the main character of this series.). On top of this, Hangetsu's wish had been to pass on his unstoppable martial arts skills to Yuuhi upon his death.
As the war against the mage and his golems continued, Mikazuki was at first determined to defeat Yuuhi, as this was the only way he could feel like he had surpassed his brother. They became rivals, and then friends. Indeed, Mikazuki's outgoing and friendly personality was not inconsequential to drawing the withdrawn and pessimistic Yuuhi out into actually having friends and happiness in his life.
I won't go into a blow by blow description of the battles between the Beast Knights and the Golems. Not all the knights survived, and there were some close calls, but in the end the good guys won and the world was not destroyed. The knights all lost their psychic powers and went on with their lives. Mikazuki followed in his brother's footsteps as an underworld enforcer while Yuuhi became a detective. The year they spent doing battle against an evil mage from the future was just one chapter in their lives.
PERSONALITY: Mikazuki is a goddamn weirdo. He rarely thinks through the consequences of his actions, is obsessed with fighting, and is given to unexpected fits of passion on strange subjects. He's not stupid. He was smart enough at least to become a university student, but he lacks anything that could be called common sense. It makes him an inherently frustrating person to deal with.
Mikazuki's biggest interest in life is getting in fights. It stems from having an inherently competitive personality and an older brother who was a highly skilled martial artist. Mikazuki's biggest goal was to surpass his brother, so naturally that led to him wanting to measure himself against various people in terms of combat skill. There is nothing that will get Mikazuki more interested in you than kicking his ass. He will come back for more again and again and again until he wins or is literally unable to keep fighting. During several of the earlier battles against the mage's golems, Mikazuki actually held the team back by getting in fights with other Beast Knights.
That said he is also an incredibly friendly and casual person. If you kick his ass he won't hold it against you or be resentful. At the same time, if he kicks your ass he'd expect the same of you. It's all in good fun. To him, it's the most natural thing in the world for a friendly match to end in both fighters becoming friends, or at least friendly rivals. Even if you're not a fighter, it is incredibly easy to become Mikazuki's friend. He just really really likes people.
Mikazuki has very loose ideas about personal space and personal property. He'll get physically very close to people without much hesitation (but for someone who's idea of a good time is punching you in the face this shouldn't be surprising). But beyond that, it is not uncommon for Mikazuki's friends, or even acquaintances to come home and find him in their living room, snacking on something from their fridge. Suggesting that this might be wrong or annoying will only get you a blank look of confusion. If you're friends, you should share your stuff, and if you were to show up at his home in the same way he'd take it equally in stride. In his defense, he usually will bring snacks and drinks to share when he does this. Food is a communal thing.
Which is good because he knows nothing about cooking, and badly needs someone to cook for him or he'll end up eating out all the time or just munching on a head of raw cabbage for dinner. He's taken bites out of whole raw onions before, with about the reaction you'd expect. I did mention that he's kind of a weirdo, right?
He wears his heart on his sleeve. When he's upset he'll run away in tears. When he gets tasty food, rainbows spill forth from his mouth (figuratively). When he gets a crush he confesses his love almost immediately. He usually bounces back to normal from these little episodes relatively quickly, but they can still be very off-putting to people who don't know him very well. This, of course, does not worry him at all. He's young, so he feels like he SHOULD still be passionate and irresponsible.
POWER:
- Domain Control: A specialized form of telekinesis. All the beast knights can create a small area (their "domain")in which they can directly move things around, but each knight uses this differently. Mikazuki creates a whole bunch of small domains and scatters them around the area, creating midair footholds that let him jump around through the air in improbably ways and attack at strange angles. It also functions as more traditional telekinesis, or can be weaponized into telekinetic spears. The telekinetic spears move is extremely tiring.
- Crow familiar: Muu the talking crow will be with him in this world. Muu is invisible to natives of this world (but not other ImPorts), vanishes and reappears by his side if she gets too far from him (somewhere around ten meters.), and obtains sustenance directly from Mikazuki's body, resulting in a slight increase in appetite. Muu can speak, but generally chooses not to.
- Crow control: Non canonical power. Muu can talk to regular crows. They will spy on people or steal small objects. They can't read and can't really understand human languages very well, but they can memorize specific phrases if needed, and can recognize faces and such.

Somewhere deep in their heart, everyone wants to be a hero of justice, right!? You get to have all the excitement, save the world, and you can usually pick up a girlfriend somewhere along the way, or I guess a boyfriend if that's what you want. The action! The romance! The adventure! Ahhh, I could swoon just thinking about it.
Anyways I'm sure I'll run into most of that stuff on my own just by being here but there's one thing I can't wait on.
